Fronmueller Resigns as CSUN Dean of Business

Fronmueller Resigns as CSUN Dean of Business By JACQUELINE FOX Staff Reporter Michael P. Fronmueller, who was appointed to serve as the dean of the College of Business and Economics at Cal State Northridge in July of 2002, has resigned from his post and is said to be considering a teaching position at the university. Fronmueller declined to give the reason for his resignation, which took effect July 9, nor would he confirm whether he was seeking a staff teaching post at CSUN, saying only that he was “having amicable discussions” with university officials about his next move. Fronmueller did confirm that he would remain co-director of the District 3 Lead Center for the Small Business Development centers in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, a prestigious and important designation awarded to the university by the U.S. Small Business Administration in late June. A search has been underway for a permanent lead center director for weeks, however, Fronmueller said he was anticipating the recruiting process “to take longer than initially expected.” CSUN spokeswoman Carmen Ramos Chandler said the school’s associate dean, William Roberts, has taken over Fronmueller’s duties temporarily until an interim dean is named, which would likely happen in two to three weeks. Meanwhile, CSUN officials will prepare to launch a nationwide search for a new dean, Chandler said. Fronmueller served as department chair in business management at Boise State University and dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before assuming the CSUN post, which put him in charge of the fifth largest business school in the country, with roughly 6,500 students.
