John Hench Foundation Promises $1 Million to Providence St. Joseph’s Cancer Center

Representatives from The John Hench Foundation pledged $1 million to help build the integrated cancer center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. The foundation’s pledge is the largest so far to the capital campaign. The Providence Saint Joseph Foundation has now raised $7.5 million of its $33.1 million goal to build the cancer center. The cancer center will build on Providence’s existing cancer services, which include three radiation oncology centers, the Providence Saint Joseph Breast Health Center in Burbank, and other support and research services. Patients at the new cancer center will have access to physicians, nutritional counselors, therapists and a research library in one location. John Hench started his eponymous foundation with his wife Lowry. Hench worked at the Walt Disney Company until his death in 2003 as a designer and an illustrator of costumes and animated characters.
