Jobs Recovery Stalls in December

The jobs recovery in Los Angeles County continued to stall in December, according to seasonally adjusted data released by the UCLA Anderson Forecast. The report found that private, non-farm payroll levels dipped by just under three-tenths of a percent for the month, compared to November. The report, which provides revised employment data in all sectors of the non-farm economy, found a similar decline across the board. However, two sectors saw slight increases: non-durable manufacturing and education and healthcare. Non-durable manufacturing employment rose just under one-tenth of a percentage point in December to 212,900 in Los Angeles County. Employment in the education and healthcare sector rose by nearly two-tenths of a percentage point to 470,100 for the month, according to the UCLA Forecast data.
