Calig World Travel Partnering With Multinational Company

Marsha Calig, owner of Calig World Travel & Cruises in Woodland Hills, has reached a deal to partner with Altour, a travel and leisure company with offices in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Nevada, and New York, as well as in London and Paris. “You get to a point where you say, ‘you know, I’m tired of dealing with small stuff all day long,’ you want to see your business grow to a higher level and when you have somebody that has over 30 offices and is one of the biggest travel companies in the world, the commission volume is bigger. That’s the big picture, collectively growing together,” Calig said. “They have a fabulous CEO and senior vice president, they’re two of the forerunners in the travel industry and they’re concentrating on growth.” Calig World Travel & Cruises will remain in existence, but Calig’s employees and independent contractors will be working through Altour in an office that the company will be leasing in either Sherman Oaks or Encino. Barry Noskeau, executive vice president of Altour, said the company decided to work with Calig because she is well respected in the business, having won a number of marketing awards, and because Altour is trying to expand its cruise business. “Her leisure expertise will help us build our volume,” said Noskeau. “In 2004 we sold over $50 million in tour cruise business around the country, she’ll help us build our volume and pricing leverage.”
