United Chambers CEO Resigns

After just two months on the job, Paula Bethsebe, the CEO of the United Chambers of Commerce has tendered her resignation. Both Bethsebe and Joel Simon, the organization’s president, acknowledged that the time commitments required were too much for the marketing industry veteran. “Due to things outside of anyone’s control, I found myself unable to find the time to fulfill the areas of endeavor for which I had been hired, and that had initially attracted me,” Bethsebe wrote in a statement to the Business Journal. “I felt, and feel that the United Chambers can best be served by separating out some of the functions. It was for these reasons that I tendered my resignation. I believe they are a worthwhile organization that serves an important role in the San Fernando Valley and hope that I can assist them in the future.” Simon said that Bethsebe had done an excellent job in helping the UCC put on its annual Small Business Awards breakfast, but ultimately the demands placed on her were too great. “Our job requirements basically took more time than she anticipated and it turned out to be more than what she was prepared to do for what we could afford to pay,” Simon said. Simon said that the organization is currently interviewing candidates to replace Bethsebe. He expects that a replacement will be named some time in the next 30 days.
