Glendale-based IHOP Corp has secured several multi-store and single-store development agreements during the second quarter for franchisees to build 28 new IHOP restaurants over the next eight and a half years. The restaurants will be located in California, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee and Virginia. At the end of the second quarter, IHOP had signed or optioned commitments for franchisees to develop a total of 339 new IHOP restaurants over the next 11 years. The company is finalizing agreements that could put up to 62 more restaurants on its development list. During the second quarter of this year, the company opened 13 new restaurants, compared with five franchise restaurants last year.
