Video Software Dealers Announce Home Entertainment Award Nominees

The Encino-based Video Software Dealers Association has announced the nominations for its annual Home Entertainment Awards, with “Shrek 2” and “The Incredibles” garnering the most nominations with four each. Shrek 2 earned an additional award nomination for its GameCube video game. The VSDA’s Home Entertainment Awards recognize outstanding achievement in home video. This year’s award categories and nominees were determined by the VSDA’s Home Entertainment Awards Nominating Committee, which is comprised of retailers, distributors and journalists. In developing the list of nominees, the committee takes into consideration the rental and sell-through success of the title and the strength of the marketing campaign launched by the studio or distributing label of the video, both to consumers and to retailers. The winners of the Home Entertainment Awards will be announced on July 27th during the Awards Show at VSDA’s Home Entertainment 2005 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Other leading titles with three nominations each are “Napoleon Dynamite,” “Open Water,” “The Punisher” and “Saw.” Television programming on DVD received recognition as well, with Seinfeld Season 1,2, and 3 receiving multiple nominations.
