Liliana Wilkerson owns “And Here’s Lilly,” a Simi Valley events planning and catering company that has catered high-end events for Arco, Aramark, the opening of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and both inaugural balls for President Bill Clinton. Wilkerson was a stay-at-home mother for years until she attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, earning a degree in hotel and restaurant management. “I was doing so much for Marriott, as an event coordinator hiring chefs, bartenders, waiters. I checked the food menus and service and everything; that’s when I got the idea I’m doing it for them I could do it for myself,” said Wilkerson. “At the time I started my company I had been working with Arco for nine years and they believed in me, being my main client.” Wilkerson has coordinated events attended by Prince Charles and foreign presidents among others. She has also put together a fundraiser for Pepperdine University. “The Pepperdine event was a black tie event that was attended by 500 people in a gorgeous mansion,” said Wilkerson. Wilkerson also teaches at Cal State Northridge and Dominguez Hills teaching event management and dining etiquette.
