Greig Smith to Unveil LA Solid Waste Plan

Councilman Greig Smith will announce his plan to end landfilling in Los Angeles while promoting resource recovery, reuse and recycling. Smith will be joined by environmental, business and community leaders in unveiling a twenty-year plan for Los Angeles to become a national leader in dealing with solid waste. “My plan is a ‘resource management blueprint’ for the city of Los Angeles, and proposes a paradigm shift in which trash is no longer viewed as waste to be managed, but as a source of valuable, reusable commodities,” said Smith. Smith will unveil his plan Thursday, June 23 at 1 p.m. at Bee Canyon Park at 13150 Sesnon Blvd. in Granada Hills.
