Bills Resigns After Decades

Robert. C. Bills announced his resignation as chief executive officer of Valley Presbyterian Hospital after working with the organization for more than 30 years. Bills’ resignation was effective immediately. He was not available for comment. A hospital spokesperson said only that he had decided to pursue other career options. “It has been a great pleasure working closely with Bob for all of these years,” said David Fleming, chairman of the board at Valley Presbyterian, in a statement. “Bob’s absence will be felt throughout the organization.” During his tenure, Bills supervised the remodeling of the hospital’s pediatric unit, and started a renovation of the hospital’s emergency room. The hospital also opened a new, $51 million, 188-bed patient tower under Bill’s supervision. The new tower is equipped with the most advanced neonatal and pediatric intensive care units in addition to its adult intensive care units and medical/surgery rooms. Each room has a minimum of 200 square feet, and 172 out of 188 beds are located in private rooms. “After 30 years of dedicated service, Bob is really a part of this institution and will be remembered as an exceptional leader. Bob was a community leader who helped Valley Presbyterian meet the many challenges that have faced hospitals,” Fleming said. “He made sure that patients were the first priority through quality care. I know I speak for the entire organization when I wish Bob much success as he embarks upon the next phase of his life and career.” Phyllis Bushart, the hospital’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer Tracey Talley will be managing day to day operations while the hospital searches for a new CEO.
