TVN to Distribute Lionsgate Films

TVN Entertainment will distribute films from Lionsgate Entertainment via video-on-demand, the company announced Monday. The multi-year deal includes all new releases from Lionsgate as well as from its library of more than 7,500 film and television titles. Lionsgate is innovative with its video-on-demand strategy, said Doug Sylvester, chief operating officer with Burbank-based TVN. “VOD customers have long wanted access to hit movies on a timelier basis so we are delighted to support Lionsgate’s strategy as well as their creative packaging and marketing initiatives for library titles,” Sylvester said. The agreement gives Santa Monica-based Lionsgate access to TVN’s Adoniss asset management system, which provides control over the distribution platform and allows updating and modifying data even after a title has been uploaded. The agreement is another step in Lionsgate’s commitment to distribute content through new digital media opportunities, said Jon Ferro, executive vice president of administration and TV distribution. “TVN’s leadership in encryption, watermaking and security supports our decision to make our movies available in VOD closer to theatrical release than ever before,” Ferro said.
