ValueClick Expands European Presence

ValueClick Inc. has acquired a privately held British firm that owns and operates 27 websites providing comparison shopping, search and vertical market content to European online customers, the company announced Monday. The Westlake Village-based company paid $13.3 million in cash for Shopping.net. The acquisition is the company’s second in Europe, following the 2004 purchase of comparison shopping site pricerunner.com. Shopping.net will be integrated into ValueClick Europe to complement its existing online marketing services. Shopping.net websites enable online transactions and attract more than two million visitors per month. “This acquisition expands our online shopping destination site presence in the marketplace, and is another significant step in our European expansion,” said Carl White, CEO of ValueClick Europe. “Shopping.net will complement our other businesses, including PriceRunner, Commission Junction, and vcmedia.”
