Angels Owner Purchases Station

The nation’s largest Spanish language AM radio station has been purchased by a partnership headed by Arte Moreno, owner of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team. Radio 830 KMXE will serve as the flagship Hispanic radio broadcast outlet for Angels baseball games. The partnership is purchasing the station from Sherman Oaks-based Radiovisa, pending approval by the Federal Communications Commission. Radiovisa is a radio company producing syndicated and network radio programming. “The acquisition of Radio 830 KMXE provides a new opportunity to bring play-to-play commentary and Angels game coverage to a large audience of Hispanic baseball fans,” said Dennis Kuhl, a partner in the acquisition. “Once the transaction is complete the station’s sports broadcasts will be expanded to a bilingual format, providing Hispanic sports enthusiast with access to exciting regional, national and international sporting events,” he said. Radio 830 KMXE broadcasts at 50,000 watts and provides 24-hour programming, including Spanish language news, talk and sports.
