North American Scientific Inc., a medical device maker in Chatsworth, announced that the Food and Drug Administration approved its line of preloaded needle kits for radiation implants used in prostate cancer treatment. The company’s shares rose to $2.57 in morning trading on the Nasdaq, an increase of $0.48, or 22.8 percent. The company plans to launch the line, called Prospera SurTRAK, later this month. The kits include a micro-angled insert used for improved and precise placement of radioactive seeds.
