MTA Approves Study to Connect Service between North Hollywood and Pasadena

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has provided $150,000 to study a regional connector linking bus and rail service with the Red Line in North Hollywood and service in Pasadena. The connector line would go through Burbank and Glendale, who along with Pasadena, ponied up $30,000 each last year to hire a consultant to study mass transit improvements between the Red Line station in North Hollywood and the Gold Line station in Pasadena. Burbank Mayor Todd Campbell said he was happy that the project was moving forward. A study by the Southern California Association of Governments shows that the corridor between the cities will generate more traffic in coming years, Campbell said. “It’s important the connector be well-planned and implemented to provide that particular section with traffic relief,” Campbell said. The Metro Board of Directors approved the expense on a motion by member Ara Najarian, who also serves as a Glendale City Councilman.
