BitTorrent Signs Agreement With Egami

BitTorrent, Inc. has signed a video licensing agreement with Egami Media, a subsidiary of Image Entertainment, Inc., the company announced. Chatsworth-based Image is one of four content providers to contribute to the new 1,600 titles to be made available by BitTorrent, a peer-assisted file distribution platform. Hart Sharp Video, Koch Entertainment, and The Orchard were the other entertainment distributors signing agreements with BitTorrent. Image President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Greenwald said an advantage of teaming with BitTorrent was in its ability to provide content without the physical limitations experienced by retail stores. “BitTorrent customers will be able to easily find and purchase programs from their favorite filmmakers, bands or comedians with complete flexibility to view them on their PCs, laptops, portable devices or throughout their home network,” said Greenwald, who also serves as chairman of the board of Egami Media. In May, Warner Bros. became the first major studio to allow BitTorrent to distribute its content.
