Valley College Construction To Start

A majority of the $47.7 million in construction contracts awarded to the Los Angeles Community Colleges will go to the construction of the new Allied Health and Sciences Center at L.A Valley College in Van Nuys. The money was awarded as part of the $2.2 billion Propositions A/AA bond measure construction program. The Valley College project will amount to $46 million and will be constructed by Irvine-based FTR International, Inc. It will primarily be funded through Proposition A/AA money as well as $15 million in funds awarded by the state. The Allied Health and Sciences Center will be a 3-story, 98,000 sq. ft. facility which will have teaching labs, classrooms and integrate energy-efficiency measures. Valley College’s restrooms will also undergo a $1.6 million upgrade done by Glendale-based Delman Construction & Development. L.A Mission College will also receive funds from Proposition A/AA for repairs on its Learning Assistance Center, roadways, walkways, grounds and parking lots. P.G. & J and Three D Traffic Works of Burbank have been contracted for their construction services.
