Technicolor Enters Mobile Arena

Technicolor Content Services said it will provide production and post-production technologies for use in content for mobile phones. The services to be handled at Technicolor facilities in Glendale and London will be made available to film studios, broadcasters, online delivery channels and wireless carriers who provide mobile content. Technicolor Chief Executive Officer Lanny Raimondo said the move allows the company to apply it technological prowess to the rapidly-growing mobile content space. A recent report from research firm iSuppli Corp. found that the global market for mobile content is expected to grow to $43 billion U.S. dollars by 2010, from $5.2 billion in 2004.
