United Online Profits Up for 3Q

United Online, Inc. increased its net profits by more than 6 percent for the third quarter, the company announced this week. The Woodland Hill-based provider of consumer Internet and media services reported a net income of $13.4 million, or $0.20 per diluted share, on revenues of $130 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30. That is a 6.7 percent increase from the same reporting period in 2005 when the company had a net income of $12.6 million, or $0.20 per diluted share, on revenues of $133 million. The company’s revenues were inline with expectations, said United Online Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mark R. Goldston. “Our diversification strategy resulted in Content and Media representing 44 percent of all pay accounts at quarter end, up from 35 percent a year ago,” Goldston said. United Online’s Content and Media offerings include social networking site Classmates, online loyalty marketing site MyPoints, Web hosting and photo sharing.
