College of the Canyons in Valencia has launched a new land surveying and construction management program slated to start in the spring. Mounting demand for trained construction and design professionals in the quickly growing Santa Clarita Valley triggered the addition of the new programs, according to the college. “Large construction companies need trained and educated managers for both residential and commercial projects,” said Audrey Green, dean of program development and community extension for the college, in a statement. “Land surveying and engineering companies are turning away work due to the shortage of trained employees.” The new programs starting in the spring semester will include two surveying classes and four construction management classes. Registration starts Nov. 13.
