Consumer spending rose 0.1 percent in September, compared to the prior month even as income rose, according to a report released by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The increase was down from 2 percent growth in August and the smallest increase in 10 months, the Commerce Department numbers revealed. It was also off from the 0.3 percent forecast by economists. Incomes however rose 0.5 percent in September, up from 0.4 percent in August.
