Novus Construction will build two fire stations in Palmdale for a combined cost of $19.2 million. The City of Palmdale donated the land and will share half the construction costs. Ground was broken on the station sites, located on the east and west sides of the city, Aug. 13. Fire Station 93, 5624 E. Ave. R, will cover approximately 11 sq. miles. It is expected that response times in the vicinity will be reduced from 10 minutes to five or under. Covering approximately 10 sq. miles, Fire Station 136 is at 3650 Bolz Ranch Road. Response times in the vicinity are expected to be reduced from 10 minutes to five or under. Both stations will be Leadership Energy and Environmental Design certified. Tentative opening for both stations is July 2008.
