Loss Woes Continue for Optical Communication

Optical Communication Products, Inc. reported a net loss for a third straight quarter for the 2007 fiscal year. The Woodland Hills-based fiber optic components maker had a net loss of $8.6 million, or a loss of $0.08 per diluted share, on revenues of $17 million for the third quarter ending June 30. That is an increase from the net loss of $437,000 on revenues of $14.9 million for the same period in 2006. The company had a net loss of $4.2 million for the first quarter and a net loss of $17 million for the second quarter. OPC is being acquired by Oplink Communications Inc. in a deal expected to close by October. OPC becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oplink.
