Twistbox Entertainment, Inc. acquired the mobile games studio of Infospace, Inc., the company announced Thursday. The studio produces multiplayer tournament games and loyalty campaigns for leading consumer and entertainment brands accessed through mobile devices. The studio in San Mateo will be fully integrated into the games division of Sherman Oaks-based Twistbox. The company will introduce three game titles to market immediately and launch another three in the second quarter. The acquisition is a perfect fit for the company’s mobile game strategy and compliments existing titles and on-deck distribution, said Twistbox CEO Ian Aaron. “By integrating Play for Prizes into our current RapidPort development and porting platform, we will be able to accelerate the delivery of new games to market, provide broad handset support, and bring our carrier and content partners new and innovative ways to reach and retain customers,” Aaron said.
