ValueClick Inc. added to its comparison shopping segment with the acquisition of MeziMedia Inc., operator of two websites, the company announced. Westlake Village-based ValueClick will pay approximately $100 million for MeziMedia at the time of closing. Privately-held MeziMedia operates Smarter.com, a comparison shopping site, and CouponMountain.com, an online coupon website that attracts 10.5 million unique U.S. visitors. The company employs 160 in Los Angeles, and overseas offices in China and Japan. Upon completing the transaction, MeziMedia’s management team will join ValuClick and continue to operate that business as part of ValueClick’s comparison shopping segment. “MeziMedia is consistent with our acquisition philosophy and gives ValueClick comparison shopping scale in the U.S., greater search marketing expertise and a presence in China, all three of which are key growth initiatives for the company,” said ValueClick CEO Tom Vadnais.
