Dick Clark Named Honorary Chairman for Neuroscience Center

Entertainment figure Dick Clark and his wife Kari will serve as honorary co-chairs for Providence St. Joseph Medical Center’s $11 million initiative to create a state-of-the-art neuroscience facility. The new neuroscience institute will treat strokes and be the only facility of its kind in the San Fernando Valley and one of only two in Los Angeles County, according to Kathleen Patrick, senior development officer of the hospital’s foundation. Providence St. Joseph currently treats almost 1,500 neurologically impaired inpatients annually. Approximately 550 are stroke victims, she said. Clark was treated at the Burbank hospital during his stroke in 2005. “Both of us were very happy that Dick was at St. Joseph and not another hospital for his care,” Kari Clark said. “It is very personal there. In today’s busy world, you rarely experience the level of compassion and kindness that was given to us during Dick’s rehabilitation.”
