An informational picket by caregivers with a non profit healthcare provider took place Friday at a clinic in San Fernando. The caregivers picketed to bring attention to stalled union contract negotiations with Northeast Valley Health Corp. “We provide healthcare services to the poor yet it’s shameful we cannot afford such services for ourselves,” said Marie Michaelsen, a nutrition counselor. Northeast Valley Health is one of the largest community health centers providing services in primary care centers, on school campuses, in homeless shelters and in community-based locations. Nearly 400 workers at Northeast Valley Health are represented by SEIU United Healthcare Workers West.
