Santa Clarita Sales Tax Revenue Up

Santa Clarita sales tax figures increased 5.6 percent during the third quarter of 2006, bringing in $7.3 million for the city from July to September, according to a study of the most recent figures available by the city. The study found that the most significant sales increases were in car leasing (29 percent) and business-to-business sales (23 percent). Food products also increased 7 percent, general retail sales jumped 6.5 percent and transportation-related sales grew by 4.1 percent, the study found. Decreases were centered on service stations, which declined 1.1 percent over the previous quarter, and auto sales, which dropped 3.4 percent.
