Woodland Hills-based United Online Inc. is expanding its broadband Internet service into major metropolitan areas serviced by Covad Communications Group Inc. The broadband service, launched by United Online in November, will now serve 49 large metro areas, the company said. Netzero customers in markets like Atlanta, Detroit, and Miami can now switch to the broadband service, United Online Chairman and CEO Mark R. Goldston said in a statement. “This expansion of NetZero DSL demonstrates our commitment to giving our customers who want a broadband experience the ability to easily upgrade from dial-up while retaining their NetZero email address and the peace of mind they get from being a NetZero customer,” Goldston said.
