Valley Immigration Consultant Sentenced in Scheme

A West Hills immigration consultant was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for spearheading an immigration fraud scheme that allowed as many as 99 illegal immigrants enter the country. Henry Hossein Haghighi Heguman last fall pleaded guilty to conspiracy, two counts of immigration fraud and two counts of money laundering. Heguman admitted to helping illegal aliens obtain visas by filing paperwork that claimed a business needed to hire a particular worker who wanted a visa to enter the United States. Investigators said Heguman, 61, and others made up the jobs and filed fake documents to support the claims, then charged immigrants up to $24,000. Three other co-defendants who pleaded guilty to helping in the scheme are scheduled for sentencing this spring.
