No Charges Against Electronic Clearing House

U.S. prosecutors will not file charges against the Camarillo payment processor Electronic Clearing House as part of an investigation into online gambling. Prosecutors said the company has worked with the investigation and agreed to hand over proceeds it received from online payment services since 2001. Last fall, the company started closing collection for the payment services and froze $21 million in funds. Internet gambling was banned in October when President Bush signed legislation forbidding online financial transfers.
