U.S. Rep Adam Schiff has reintroduced a measure to look at expanding the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area to include the mountains that encircle the San Fernando, Simi, Conejo and La Crescenta valleys. The Rim of the Valley Corridor Study Act directs the U.S. Interior Department to study the feasibility of adding most of the Valley-area mountains to the recreation area, doubling its size. California Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced similar legislation in the U.S. Senate.
