The nonprofit Meet Each Need With Dignity won’t be able to move into its new $8.5 million headquarters in Pacoima because it was not issued the correct permits in time for the grand opening this weekend. A miscommunication between the charity and the city departments of Water and Power and Public Works meant a temporary occupancy permit was never issued for the new building at 10641 San Fernando Road as required by law. A grand opening will still be held Saturday, although the nonprofit won’t be able to occupy the facility until the permit is issued, which could take as long as six weeks. The nonprofit plans to reschedule appointments at its current Mission Hills location until then.
