Director of Photography Steven Poster was elected president of Local 600, the International Cinematographers Guild. Poster will serve a three-year term when sworn in during the next Local 600 National Executive Board meeting. He defeated Haskell Wexler, also a director of photography, with 58 percent of the vote. According to the election committee and election services committee of Local 600, tentative results showed that 2,400 ballots had been cast, representing 42 percent of the eligible membership. Poster had been serving as Local 600 president since July 2006, following the ouster of Gary Dunham. “We pledge to fight for more jobs, including the training needed to stay ahead of the curve with new and hybrid technology, to rebuild Local 600’s respect in the industry, and to strengthen our ties with the International and other IA locals that we bargain alongside,” Poster said.
