Home Sales Way Down Nationwide

Home sales nationwide were down 28 percent in August from a year ago, the California Association of Realtors reported last week. Meanwhile, home prices in California continued to drop, with those in the Central Valley, including Sacramento, falling 12 percent. In Southern California, average-priced homes in Riverside and San Bernardino counties fell 7.4 percent from a year ago. In Los Angeles County, however, median price rose 2.6 percent, according to the California Association report. In August, unsold homes nationwide were at their highest in 18 years, the association reported.
