Nomination for COLA Award

For the second year in a row, a City of Santa Clarita employee has been nominated to receive a California On Location Award for assistance with television and film production. Romeo Perez, a project development coordinator in the city’s traffic and transportation planning division, was nominated in the City Employee of the Year category. The Santa Clarita Valley Film Office submitted Perez’s name for the award for his work in assuring the least impact on traffic patterns when filming takes place in the city, said Jessica Freude, a film analyst with the film office. During the filming of the television series “Las Vegas,” Perez stepped in to coordinate traffic signals when a Los Angeles County engineer was unable to make it, Freude said. “He was able to come out and be on set within an hour,” Freude said. The 13th annual COLAs will be presented on Oct. 14 at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort in City of Industry.
