Several Chambers to Host Other Activities

By IVY WEISS Contributing Reporter Although there are festivals scheduled for October by area chambers, many other events are scheduled. Illegal Immigration The Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce in concert with the Northridge/Chatsworth and Granada Hills Rotary Clubs are presenting an event Oct. 10 at noon in which Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, speaks out on illegal immigration. Councilman Greig Smith is emceeing the event. The luncheon will be held at the Porter Valley Country Club, 19216 Singing Hills Drive, Porter Ranch (NE corner of Rinaldi and Porter Valley Drive) Contact Rita at (818) 773-9800 for reservations. Sun Valley Event Havana Nights II, being presented by the Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce is being held on Friday, Oct. 19th. This Casino Night event will be between 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm at the Fairways Restaurant, Hansen Dam Golf Course, 10400 Glenoaks Blvd. The title sponsor is Superior Gunite. Table Sponsorships are $300 (and unlimited individual tickets @ $25 each). Individual tickets can be purchased for $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Ticket includes entry, dinner, and gaming chips to exchange for chances on a raffle. Proceeds from the event support the Sun Valley Chamber’s programs. Awards On Friday, October 26 the Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce will be recognizing three outstanding schools in the local area for their innovative teaching and the inspiration they provide for students. The R.O.S.E. (Recognizing Outstanding Schools in Education) Awards Luncheon will be at the Woodland Hills Hilton. “This event is a spin-off from our past R.O.L.E. Awards (Rewarding Outstanding Leaders in Education). The education committee observed many wonderful teachers, as well as the administrators, in our schools who were not being recognized. We decided to give the entire school the Recognition they deserve,” said Debbi Lund, chair of the chamber’s education committee. The committee will recognize: Woodland Hills Private School, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School and Louisville High School for being this year’s winners of the first R.O.S.E. Awards. The R.O.S.E. Awards make it possible for the Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber Education committee to make monetary contributions to the selected schools which enables them to continue the high standard of education for which they are recognized. Small Business Expo Wednesday, November 7th, between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm, the Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce will be having its first Small Business Expo. The Expo is hosted by the Canoga Park Elks Lodge at 20925 Osborne Street. Visiting the Expo is a relaxed way to network; there will be food, prizes, and an opportunity to explore businesses and services. This event is open to the public admission to the public is free and there is plenty of free parking. Booths are available, with a special discount to Canoga Park/ West Hills Chamber members, with a special discount to new Chamber members and Chamber sponsors. Space for the booths is limited. This event will enable the Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber to continue providing programs and assistance to the businesses and communities of Canoga Park and West Hills.
