Trio-Tech Posts Profit for Year

Trio-Tech International reported a $3.3 million net income for fiscal 2007 fueled by expansion into Chinese and Southeast Asian markets. That amount, however, was a 63 percent drop for the Van Nuys-based semiconductor testing services company when compared with fiscal 2006. The $3.3 million in net income, or $1.02 per diluted share, came on revenues of $46.7 million for the fiscal year ending June 30. For fiscal 2006, the company reported a net income of $9 million, or $2.90 per diluted share, on revenues of $29.1 million. The company’s performance shows the strategy to build its presence in key Chinese and Southeast Asian markets was the right one, said Trio-Tech CEO S.W. Yong. “The decision we made to invest in our strengths has improved our relationships with existing customers, created opportunities for us to attract new customers, and set the stage for us to achieve the sustained growth we are aiming for over the long term,” Yong said.
