Palmer Resigns from Las Lomas

Real estate developer Dan Palmer has resigned as president of the Las Lomas Land Company, LLC, the entity behind the much-disputed Las Lomas project proposed for land in the Santa Clarita pass. Alan Joelson, chairman of the company, will take on presidential duties. He cited “personal reasons” as the catalyst for Palmer’s departure. The proposed Las Lomas project would cover 555 acres and support 5,800 mostly multi-family residences and 2 million square feet of commercial, retail, public and hospitality buildings. The property is situated adjacent to the I-5 just north of the junction of State Highway 14. Many local officials including Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith and the Santa Clarita City Council have been vociferously opposed to the project, while Valley business leaders have praised the project for its vision of sustainability and potential source of job growth.
