The Army Corps of Engineers on Monday used some of the 900,000 tons of sand being dredged from the Port of Hueneme to help replenish a nearby beach. The dredging project, which was nine years in the making, will make the deep-water port more accessible to Navy ships and ocean-crossing cargo vessels as well as restore areas of erosion at Hueneme Beach.
