United, JetBlue to cut service at two SoCal airports

Southern California airports face the prospect of declining revenue today following the announcement by two major carriers that they would cut service at Los Angeles International and Ontario airports this fall. United Airlines, the second-busiest carrier at LAX, said yesterday it would slash about 20 percent of its Southern California schedule, or about 40 flights a day … including nonstop service to Frankfurt and Hong Kong. JetBlue Airways said yesterday that after Labor Day it would pull out of Ontario, where it began its West Coast expansion in 2000 and from where it now offers daily nonstop service to New York’s Kennedy Airport.
