Defense Contractor Posts Net Income For Q1

Providing product for new weapons systems and signing new customers contributed to AML Communications reporting positive income for the first quarter. The Camarillo-based designer, manufacturer and marketer of amplifiers and subsystems reported a net income of $751,000, or $0.07, on revenues of $3.3 million for the quarter ending June 30. For the same time period in 2007, the company had a net loss of $46,000, or $0.00 per diluted share, on revenues of $2.7 million. Use of automated equipment allows the AML to increase shipments with reduced costs and improved manufacturing efficiencies for defense customers. Earlier this year, AML diversified its business with the acquisition of energy management product producer Mice-Tech Inc. Following the acquisition, the company took steps to improve efficiencies and cost reductions.
