A 5.4 earthquake centered near Chino Hills struck Southern California resulting in minor damage. The quake was originally estimated at a 5.8 magnitude but later was downgraded to a 5.4 magnitude by the U.S. Geological Survey. There was flooding at the Macy’s in Topanga Plaza in Woodland Hills, and five people suffered minor injuries at a building in the 3600 block of Wilshire Boulevard in the rush to exit, according to the Los Angeles Times. Students at Canoga Park High were evacuated as a precaution and sent to the field, the Daily News reported. Some cellular phone service was disrupted by the quake. Metro is operating its rail lines at restricted speeds to ensure safe operation of rail vehicles. Delays of up to 15 minutes were expected.
