Work Halts On Biofuel Plant

Lack of financing has led Kreido Biofuels Inc. to stop construction of a production plant in North Carolina. Camarillo-based Kreido will scale back its operations and look to deploy its biodiesel production technology somewhere other than at the planned site in Port of Wilmington. Kreido developed its “spinning tube in tube” technology to make biofuels and other chemicals. To continue work on its 100-million gallon plant in Wilmington, the company needed to secure $25 million in funding, which never surfaced. “In light of current financing limitations, we must use our available resources to explore alternatives that will best enable our business partners and shareholders to benefit from our technology,” company CEO Ben Binninger said.
