Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Van Nuys

A runway at Van Nuys Airport is re-opened after an emergency landing of a Cessna 310 prop plane experiencing a nose gear problem. The plane landed safely without any injury to the pilot and single passenger, the Daily News reported. One of the airport’s two runways was closed for several hours to remove the aircraft. Harold Johnson, a spokesman with Los Angeles World Airport, the city agency that operates the airport did not know where the flight originated or where it was headed. The emergency call came in to Van Nuys at about 11:05 a.m. and the plane landed at about 12:21 p.m. after flying to burn off fuel, Johnson said. The Cessna 310 is a twin-engine turbo-prop plane developed after World War II and popular with air taxi and air charter services.
