JetHawks Sign Affiliation With Astros

The Lancaster JetHawks minor league baseball team has changed its affiliation to the Houston Astros after two years as the West Coast Single A club for the Boston Red Sox. The JetHawks ownership signed a minimum two-year player development contract with the Houston club that has the option to be extended through the 2012 season. Lancaster replaces Houston’s Single A team in Virginia. “This is very exciting not only for the JetHawks but for the Antelope Valley, given the mutual involvement that both of our communities share in the aerospace industry,” said JetHawks majority owner Peter Carfagna. “The Astros have proven to be strong partners with their other affiliates and in committing to this agreement, we have ensured continuity in our Major League relationship for several years to come as we look to build on the successes on and off the field that we have enjoyed the last several years.” When the minor league season starts in the spring, it will mark the first time since 1964 that Houston has had a team in the California League.
