Teledyne Subsidiary Receives U.S. Navy Contract

A subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc. received a $6.2 million contract for a fleet of underwater gliders to assist in positioning of U.S. Navy ships during maneuvers. The contract is the result of combining the strengths multiple Teledyne businesses to support Navy missions, said Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and CEO of Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne. The initial contract for Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc. is expected to be completed by July 2010. If all options are exercised the total value of the contract will be $52.6 million and last through November 2014. Brown will lead the effort using an existing underwater glider as a model for the program. Mark R. Madler
