Superior Loses Finance Chief

Superior Industries International Inc. is looking for a new chief financial officer following the resignation of Erika Turner effective later this month. Turner is leaving the Van Nuys-based manufacturer of aluminum wheels for a position on the East Coast. Emil Fanelli has been named as the interim CFO. He has been the vice president and controller of Superior since 1997. Turner’s tenure at Superior coincided with a crumbling of the U.S. auto market as the Big Three automakers struggled in the face of a worldwide recession that brought a severe slump in car sales. Superior, as a supplier to all the major car makers both domestic and foreign, had to make cuts itself, eliminating manufacturing in Van Nuys and shutting down a plant in Kansas in December. Turner provided financial leadership and was instrumental in developing Superior’s strategic plans, said company Chairman, CEO and President Steven Borick. “She played a key role in our efforts to reduce costs, right size manufacturing capacity and guide investors through the current challenges in the automotive industry,” Borick said.
