Glendale Adventist Medical Center to Become Energy-Efficient

Glendale Adventist Medical Center has begun the process of changing out more than 5,000 light bulbs across the complex and replacing them with energy efficient lights The change in light bulbs is expected to be completed by late November and will save the center $225,000 a year on electricity costs. The $300,000 project to improve the hospital’s energy efficiency will be supported by the City of Glendale who will issue an energy rebate for 25 percent of the cost. Glendale Adventist contracted Earth Savers to perform the lighting retrofit, a company that has performed over 400 energy efficiency upgrade projects for health care facilities all over the United States. “We thank our patients and visitors in advance for their patience and cooperation during this important project,” said Daniel Brown, director of Plant Operations at Glendale Adventist. “Hospitals have a lot to gain from an energy retrofit, because we are a twenty-four hour operation consuming energy faster than most other businesses.” Brown said.
