Los Angeles Adds Office of Economic Analysis

The Los Angeles City Council has approved the creation of a new Office of Economic Analysis, the city announced. The office, proposed by City Council President Eric Garcetti, will provide independent research to guide job creation and economic development initiatives. It will also assess the impact of other city actions on jobs and the economy. Garcetti’s office will fully fund the Office of Economic Analysis for one year and will seek to permanently establish the office if the first year is successful. Garcetti thanked the L.A. Chamber of Commerce for its participation in the initiative. “The City of L.A. will now have the tools to understand how city policies affect job creation and our business climate,” said Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Gary Toebben.
